Don't you wish you were a dog! These two did such a great job on Day 1 and it looks like we were getting a good start to Day 2. We took a walk in the morning before getting in the car and it looks like it wore them out! It was HOT in Virginia when we left, the locals were expecting record highs.
It didn't seem to take us long to get to North Carolina, but it sure did seem to take a long time to get THROUGH it.
North Carolina had these beautiful fields of flowers all over the state! Trust me, it was a lot of flowers. We think they were some sort of Lily, but its hard to tell when your going 70 mph.
South of the border welcomes you! You NEVER SAUSAGE A PLACE! No, we didn't skip straight to Mexico, this HUGE sombrero is the reason I missed the South Carolina sign, I'm not doing to well getting all the signs. We didn't stop this trip, but they have a fireworks store, something to do with reptiles, some food, a strange hat store, a hotel, and some defunct rides. I understand you can ride an elevator to the top of the Sombrero for a fee.
I guess the folks in South Carolina knew I would miss their sign, and gosh darn they are so polite they said "goodbye". While we were in South Carolina we had lunch and bought some water. The lady at the CVS was so nice that when Tony picked a kind of water, she told him to go back and get the cheaper water, no rush, just didn't want him to spend too much. They were so nice we thought they might ask us to stay.
Welcome to the state where Tony and I met. He was stationed in South Georgia when we first met. We stopped here for gas and "old times" sake. Kings Bay still looks the same, funny how some things don't change.
We were surprised to find we made it to Florida on the 2nd day. At this point Mica was going crazy and had been trapped in the car for too long. We stopped for dinner. Jacksonville was surprisingly big! Also we drove past some pine trees that had been destroyed in a fire a few years back, I was surprised at how fast they go. Just natures way of saying that when you loose everything, the only thing left to do is grow, learn, and rebuild.
So now we have been here in Florida a few days and the heat is starting to feel more tolerable. The pool definitely helps. We are planning to go to Universal and do something fun besides that, like maybe para sail! We will keep up all update when we get a chance to get some internet. Hope you all have a great weekend! Happy Friday!

PICTURES!
Hi everyone, I found the pictures!
This is the first state sign we found! We decided to try to get a shot of each sign as we crossed the boarder. I can say now, that doing that while Tony is driving by is not so easy.
Look we are driving on water! Aren't we AMAZING!
Hello New Jeresy! Anyone who has been on the turnpike knows that the US does have its own version of the AutoBahn.
While Delaware is a small state, their sign is not. Despite its LARGE size, I still missed it! Told you this wouldn't be easy!
I do have to say that I like Maryland's sign. It has so much color!
This is the Church of the Laterday Saints. It reminded me of a big glowing fairy tale castle in the middle of Washington DC. Isn't it beautiful. It was about this time that we hit some rain, I was lucky to get a clear shot!
So we did make it into Virginia this night, but I couldn't FIND the sign to take a picture of it, so it counts as a "missed" shot. More pics to come in the next post of driving, day 2!

Made it to Florida!
Hi everyone! We made it to Florida, record time! We got in yesterday at 8:30. I would be posting pictures, but I left the camera at Mom's house and it has all the pictures, ooops. It was so hot on the way down, we just kept on the road. We did finish our book though and have moved on to the next book in the series. Is it bad we can't remember which "Dead" book we are listening to? I think this afternoon will be full of swimming in the pool with the dogs and spending time with Mom. This morning we dropped into Panera to do some business and update you all on our progress. We were shocked when we came through Jacksonville last night with how big it is getting and how I-95 seems to have just moved. I guess that's what happens when they work on the road for years and years!
So off we go to train our bodies to deal with more heat in preparation for Arizona. I PROMISE we will eventually post some pictures 80)

An update to first stop
So last night I was REALLY tired, so I didn't put any of the fun part of the day in my post. We started listening to Dead as a Doornail, by Charlain Harris. It is one of the books that was made into the HBO special, True Blood. So we stop listening periodically to discuss, what happens next etc. We started out pretty well, we did miss an exit in NYC trying to get to the George Washington Bridge and took a detour though the Bronx. As is common in NYC it only took us about 3 minutes to see something unusual. We saw a full size pick-up truck painted with murals and it had flashing lights. In the bed of the truck was a tow bar and it had an old beat up car attached to the back. I wonder if it wasn't a repo truck. I wanted a picture, but it was gone before I even could reach my camera!
For today we are going to get as far as we can, mapquest says 12 hours to Florida, so who knows we might make it there today! I think we are going to finish our book and start Janet Evonavich, Sixteen (its so new I don't even know the whole title!)
I am hoping to find a book or listing of "road side" attractions to follow us the rest of the trip. Anyone have any ideas? I want to know where things like the worlds largest ball of yard are, I bet Tony might enjoy the worlds biggest roll of duct tape or something!

First stop!
So the last people I saw in Norwich were the school psychologists. I really wish them luck in figuring out their assignments for next year. They gave me a warm send off and Tony and I were on our way. We were blessed by relatively little traffic and some adrenaline that kept us driving late into the night. We checked into a hotel around 10:30 in Thornburg, VA. We made it through New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland and part of Virginia today. I looked it up, looks like 400+ miles. It is a very good start. I did get some pictures, but I am too tired to work that out so you will have to wait until later. The girls did a great job of mostly laying down and keeping calm, but now it seems Mica is awake and playful. I hope we don't have neighbors below us!
Off to bed for the two of us! I think we have an early morning, at least the hotel serves breakfast!

The beginning
Hi everyone, welcome to the new blog. I intend to use this to put up some great pictures and share our adventure with you all. This is my first blog and my first thing on this site, so I will hopefully get better at making it pretty looking. Today we are officially moved out of our house. I said good bye to some good friends and amazing people. I hope to see many of them visit me in the future. If I made this many good friends here, I can only imagine that there are more great people in the world to find and know. We are very tired from all the cleaning and arranging, but we are ready for our next adventure!
